Complete Sophisticate
August 10, 2006 | Collections Agent
I cannot say enough how much I love the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection. Lim co-founded Development in L.A. (another fantastic line which I will write about later) and then he set up shop in New York with 3.1. Buzz about his collection keeps growing and it’s easy to see why.
Everything has this slouchy/downtown vibe that’s still sophisticated and so cool. Net-A-Porter has a good selection of the fall line including the gray cowl neck sweater, antique lace blouse and the tea dress. One of my favorite pieces from the collection is the gray lace collared cardigan.

This would work with both slouchy and skinny pants. |
I found it on Browns and let me tell you people, it’s not cheap. It never is. Anyway, this line offers great inspiration and I can’t wait to recreate some of the looks and make them my own.
Jumper Madness
July 25 | Collections Agent
Call me crazy but I’m already looking forward to fall fashions. I can’t wait for the September magazine blitz and the newest looks to hit stores. Jumpers are supposed to be big for fall and I’m not sure what to think about that.

Luella dress in plaid, another key trend for fall. |

A luxurious look by Proenza Schouler. |
To me, there’s something about a jumper that screams fourth grade class photo. Don’t make me pull mine out. As evidenced above, jumpers can be casual or polished but I’m just not feeling it, whatever IT is.
Reinventing the Hoodie
July 12 | Collections Agent
I don’t know about you, but I wear hoodies pretty much year round. Variety meant pullover vs. zip up, short sleeves vs. long sleeves, fleece vs. lightweight knit. But now the humble hoodie has been elevated to a whole new level.
Mike&Chris, an L.A. based husband and wife design team, created a punk rock but structured aesthetic to this wardrobe basic. I’m not going to name any names as to who caused the proliferation of velour hoodies… okay, rhymes with Lucy but you probably already knew that… but that look must die.
But this look is inspired.

Check out the Mike&Chris website for the rest of their Fall looks. I can’t wait to get my hands on one or two. You can shop for Mike&Chris at one of my favorite online boutiques Le Train Bleu.
First Look at Fall
June 1 | Collections Agent
Even though June is upon us, here in the Pacific Northwest it’s still cool and damp. So while I am waiting to take my cute new Bermuda shorts and tank outfit out on the town, I’m stuck in my jeans and hoodie until the sun makes a permanent comeback.
This weather also makes it easier to get interested in fall 2006 looks. Don’t get me wrong, my toes are itching to get some action in flat sandals after a nice pedicure. Still, it’s fun to see what’s in store when retailers start rolling out the wool during the heat of August.
I’m digging Vince’s fall 2006 offerings. You can check out the trunk show at Saks Fifth Avenue.
With the proliferation of skinny jeans and slim fitting pants, these long and swingy sweaters are the perfect compliment. My favorites are the portrait collared sweater and the long striped cardigan.
